LEADERSHIP COUNCILS

Join Us

Local councils witness the devastating effects of gambling harm firsthand through various social and economic impacts on their communities. They see the consequences in rising financial hardship, increased demand for social services, and the toll gambling takes on individuals and families. Problem gambling can lead to housing insecurity, family breakdowns, mental health struggles, and even criminal activity, all of which place additional strain on council-run support services. This firsthand exposure makes councils key advocates in pushing for stronger gambling reforms to protect their communities from further harm.

By taking a proactive stance on gambling reform, councils can lead the way in protecting vulnerable residents, reducing harm, and fostering healthier, more sustainable communities.

Our Leadership Councils are local councils that partner with the Alliance for Gambling Reform to drive meaningful change in their communities. These councils play a vital role in supporting our mission, not only through advocacy and policy development but also by championing initiatives that help reduce gambling harm. By working together, we can push for stronger regulations, raise public awareness, and support affected communities more effectively.

Beyond advocacy, Leadership Councils are essential to our organisation in many other ways. They help create a united front in addressing the devastating impact of gambling at the local level, ensuring that community voices are heard, and that real change is achieved. Their commitment strengthens our collective efforts, making them invaluable partners in the fight for gambling reform.
